Synchronicities: The Happenings of the Holy Spirit

Coincidences are strategically orchestrated and perfectly aligned by the Holy Spirit…

Often, I find myself advising people that there is no such thing as a coincidence. I thank the Holy Spirit for giving me this wisdom; here is why coincidences are not accidental.

The first time the word ‘coincidence’ appears it was uttered by Jesus when He was teaching the parable of the Good Samaritan. As He introduced the parable, Jesus said, “Now by coincidence, a priest was going down that road, and when he saw him, he passed by on the other side”(Luke 10:31 AMP). This word is translated from the Greek word ‘synkyrian’, which is a combination of two words syn and kurios. Syn means “together with,” and kurious means “supreme in authority.” In English, this Greek word ‘synkyrian’ — if adjusted to fit in our character set and pronunciation — sounds more like the word synchronicity.

Bear in mind, that other versions of the bible, namely KJV and ESV use the term ‘by chance’ in place of the word ‘coincidence’. Both derive from the same outcome because coincidences are events that just happen by chance; unplanned or accidentally. So, the biblical definition of coincidence is an event or series of events happening together, which are circumstances perfectly orchestrated by God with the purpose of:

1. God Showing You a Sign of His Divine Timing.

2. God Showing You a Sign to Confirm His Word.

3. Evidence of Supernatural Providence and Provision.

4. Evidence of Alignment of Hearts and Paths.

Let’s take Divine Timings as an example. Do you know, that the most profound type of orchestrated synchronicity is called a ‘Kairos moment’? Kairos is a Greek word meaning the right time or ‘opportune moment’ or ‘supreme moment’. In the New Testament, it derives its meaning of an ‘appointed time’ predestined by God to fulfill His purposes. It is in this moment God acts (Psalm 103:7), and we experience His supernatural power in our lives. Really, it is only God, Himself, who stands over and watches over His Word, making sure it is fulfilled(Jeremiah 1:12). This is why it is so important to be sensitive to the ministration of the Holy Spirit.

When I see coincidences appear in my daily activities, I receive them as spiritual synchronicities that were strategically orchestrated and perfectly aligned by the Holy Spirit. One of the mantras I declare very often is, “All things work together for good to those who love God, who have been called according to his purpose. For He foreknew me, and He predestined me to be conformed to the image of Christ”(Romans 8:28–29). I believe everything one does is planned by God to work together for their wholesome prosperity.

Be mindful of the synchronicities the Holy Spirit calls to your attention!
