The Counterfeit: Clairvoyants and Narcissism

A narcissistic Christian with the seerโ€™s gift can easily operate as a clairvoyant โ€” as in, a spiritist or psychic โ€” without realizing it. Clairvoyants, who are deeply involved in divination, often engage with a serpentine spirit called the Adder spirit (Acts 16:17โ€“18, Revelation 12:9).

Regardless of whether the practice of foretelling future events or discovering hidden knowledge was done knowingly or unknowingly โ€” it is crucial to understand that they all are works of inequity. Here are some of the frequent signs you may have missed out in discerning whether that false minister is really a Clairvoyant:

  1. They are slaves in their own bodies, as they are slaves to sin(Acts 16:17
  2. They are pathological liars(John 8:44)
  3. They are high-functioning demon-possessed people(Luke 8:27)
  4. They are master self-aggrandizing pretenders(Matthew 7:23)

โ€œโ€˜Do not turn to mediums [who pretend to consult the dead] or to spiritists [who have spirits of divination]; do not seek them out to be defiled by them. I am the Lord your God.โ€ โ€” Leviticus 19:31

God unequivocally forbids us from engaging in any form of fellowship with divination. This prohibition extends to direct participation in divination practices or even receiving messages by spirits of divination. Those who give ear to the words of someone claiming to prophesy through a spirit of divination expose themselves to demonic influence, thereby jeopardizing their lives and destinies.

This epistle aims to reveal how to identify divination within the Body of Christ. It exposes individuals who claim to be led by the Holy Spirit but are, in reality, high-functioning demon-possessed people.

โ€œShe followed Paul and the rest of us, shouting, โ€˜These men are servants of the Most High God, who are telling you the way to be saved.โ€™ She kept this up for many days. Finally, Paul became so annoyed that he turned around and said to the spirit, โ€˜In the name of Jesus Christ I command you to come out of her!โ€™ At that moment the spirit left her.โ€ โ€” Acts 16:17โ€“18

On their way to pray, Paul and his team encountered a young girl possessed by a Python spirit. Remarkably, it was Paul alone who discerned the true source of her utterances, though it took him several days. This encounter, detailed in Acts 16:16โ€“18, highlights the subtlety and deceptive nature of serpentine spirits. It is crucial to remember that the slave girl herself was unaware of the spirit within her. Similarly, narcissistic Christians can unknowingly host and engage with spirits of divination.

Demons typically enter their hosts either at birth, childhood or during trauma seasons, exploiting every vulnerability to gain control and become the hostโ€™s strongman. We consider them spiritual slaves because they are often abused, used, and influenced by demons. These demons frequently use their hostโ€™s ignorance as shackles to strengthen the stronghold(Hosea 4:6)โ€ฆ๐’•๐’‰๐’† ๐’๐’†๐’”๐’” ๐’•๐’‰๐’†๐’š ๐’Œ๐’๐’๐’˜, ๐’•๐’‰๐’† ๐’”๐’•๐’“๐’๐’๐’ˆ๐’†๐’“ ๐’•๐’‰๐’† ๐’”๐’•๐’“๐’๐’๐’ˆ๐’‰๐’๐’๐’…!

Moreover, in the same way, that people believed the slave girl was speaking by the Holy Spirit simply because she mentioned God, narcissistic Christians can also reveal accurate things through spirits of divination while claiming โ€” and believing โ€” that they received their revelations from the Spirit of truth (John 16:13). This calls attention to the insidiousness of these evil spirits and the need for discernment within the Body of Christ.

โ€œWhen the Advocate comes, whom I will send to you from the Father โ€” the Spirit of truth who goes out from the Father โ€” he will testify about me.โ€ โ€” John 15:26

โ€œโ€ฆfor there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of liesโ€ โ€” John 8:44

You see, spirits of divination, including the Adder spirit, can speak of true things in the name of God but never fully acknowledge the truth. Because of this fact, spirits of divination will always take great measures to avoid invoking the powerful name of Jesus Christ. Jesus himself declared, โ€œI am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Meโ€ (John 14:6). Do you see the importance of discernment and adhering firmly to the truth found in Christ alone?

Furthermore, narcissistic Christians are pathological liars not merely because they give false prophecies, but fundamentally because they lack the presence of Christ within them. True believers, who are in communion with the Truth (Jesus Christ), speak through the Spirit of truth. In contrast, narcissistic Christians are marked by their subtle and relentless manipulation through lies and false beliefs. This is especially evident in their practice of disseminating (or giving) false prophecies, which, upon believed and acted on, inevitably manifest in peopleโ€™s lives.

โ€œWhen Jesus stepped ashore, he was met by a demon-possessed man from the town. For a long time, this man had not worn clothes or lived in a house, but had lived in the tombs.โ€ โ€” Luke 8:27

Firstly, itโ€™s important to recognize that a Spirit-filled Christian can(and often does) experience demon oppression, manifesting as feelings of depression, extreme anxiety, nightmares, or ongoing struggles such as financial, marital, and personal difficulties. While narcissistic people who claim to be Christians, not only suffer from demonic oppression but are also demon-possessed.

Narcissistic Personality Disorder (NPD) is classified as a mental health condition characterized by disruptive patterns of thinking, behavior, and mood when relating to others. The term โ€˜personality disorderโ€™ in modern psychology aligns with the Biblical concept of being โ€˜demon-possessedโ€™ or โ€˜demonizedโ€™ โ€” derived from the Greek term ฮดฮฑฮนฮผฮฟฮฝฮนฯƒฮธฮตฮนฯ‚ (daimonizomai).

โ€œThen Jesus asked him, โ€œWhat is your name?โ€โ€ฆโ€™ My name is Legion,โ€™ he replied, โ€˜for we are many.โ€™ โ€œ โ€” Mark 5:9

Similar to the man possessed by a legion of demons โ€” collectively named โ€˜Legionโ€™ โ€” Narcissistic Personality Disorder (NPD) represents a collective manifestation of evil spirits residing within its host. This is why narcissistic Christians can be viewed as high-functioning individuals who are demon-possessed.

โ€œHaving a form of godliness but denying its power.โ€ โ€” 2 Timothy 3:5

They are considered โ€˜high-functioningโ€™ because despite their outward appearance of normalcy [That is, having a form of godliness], narcissistic Christians will always exhibit traits and behaviors consistent with NPD. Jesus himself declared, โ€œYou will know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes from thornbushes or figs from thistles?โ€ (Matthew 7:15). These kinds of people are what the Bible calls โ€˜barren branchesโ€™โ€“Christians who bear no spiritual fruit.

So, this disorder manifests as a collection of demon spirits influencing their thoughts, actions, and relationships, often leading to:

i.) Manipulation: expressed as inflicting Fear and imposing Control over people, which is the opposite of peace and patience.

ii.) Self-centeredness: expressed as Insolent Pride and Haughtiness, which is the opposite of humility, meekness, or gentleness.

iii.) Lack of empathy: expressed as Indifference, which is the opposite of love, goodness, and kindness.

iv.) Lifestyle with no boundaries: expressed as envy and self-indulgence, which is the opposite of self-control.

Like all vipers the Adder has one of the most highly developed venom delivery methods in the animal kingdom. The two front-located fangs can be individually controlled as to venom delivery so the Adder only has to make contact with its victim by one of its fangs for a strike to be fatal. Behind these needle-sharp fangs are many more undeveloped fangs waiting to serve as replacements should one of the fangs get damaged or lost in a strike.

Now, the Adder spirit โ€” known for its โ€œcoilingโ€ or โ€œlying in waitโ€ nature โ€” usually affects both internal and external aspects of its host. Just as it spreads false prophecies, it also actively suffocates the breath of life (the Holy Spirit) from its host and those around it. In that, narcissistic Christians are not only tormented by the demon but often are fully consumed and influenced by the demon so that their actions and words are directed and infused by its presence.

โ€œYou foolish Galatians! Who has bewitched you?โ€ โ€” Galatians 3:1

In the same way, the Adder spirit had a stronghold in Philippi, this spirit is cultic. In fact, being in a cult-like church is akin to being in a narcissistic relationship. Narcissists believe they are superior, placing themselves above all others. Similarly, a narcissistic Christian ensnares others in their web of lies and false beliefs. They are control freaks who relish power over people, manipulating and molding them into loyal followers(Galatians 3:1). Their focus is on themselves, not the One they claim called them.

โ€œMany will say to Me on that day, โ€˜Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in Your name, and in Your name drive out demons and perform many miracles?โ€™ โ€œ โ€“Matthew 7:23

A โ€˜self-aggrandizing pretenderโ€™ refers to individuals who excel at portraying themselves in a โ€˜grandioseโ€™ or exaggerated manner, often to gain admiration, respect, or attention from others. They are adept at creating an image of themselves that appears impressive or important, regardless of whether it accurately reflects their true abilities or achievements.

Thus, being masters of the fine art of love-bombing (manipulation), narcissistic Christians initially present themselves as the epitome of godliness in relationships, showcasing unparalleled wisdom, gifts, and apparent spiritual prowess. Paul cynically refers to such individuals in his second letter to the Corinthians as โ€˜super-apostlesโ€™โ€(2 Corinthians 11:5, 2 Corinthians 12:11).

There are no limits to what they will do to portray themselves as your โ€œbonafide spiritual fathers,โ€ โ€œMajor 1's,โ€ or โ€œhumblest prophets like Moses.โ€ They may come into your life so swiftlyโ€ฆoften making claims such as praying with you, imparting words of knowledge, or prophecy. Soon enough, you find yourself entangled in an unfulfilling relationship, either through joining their church or serving under their ministryโ€ฆItโ€™s a toxic rush! These people are relentless in their needs. Once they identify what you possess, they are determined to take it for themselves. Their only objective is to control their image; and relationships until people surrender themselves to them without boundaries.

However, this faรงade is almost always short-lived. The issue with narcissistic Christians lies in their inability to sustain this pretense indefinitely; it inevitably unravels over time. Hence, they often prioritize cultivating a fanbase rather than genuinely making disciples (see Matthew 28:18โ€“20).

I write these things not using words coming from human wisdom. Rather, I am writing words given by the Spirit, using human understanding of narcissistic behaviors and traits to explain spiritual truths. Therefore, those who discern narcissism within a clairvoyant or medium can readily identify the spirits of divination that dwell in our ignorance. Those who are very observant will perceive how narcissism plays a key role in perpetuating human worship, church hurt, and spiritual abuse in the Body of Christ.

Furthermore, people predisposed to Legion-like infestations, are capable of hosting and interacting with thousands, if not millions, of demons. This reality stems from our bodies being designed to house the Holy Spirit; thus, in His absence, demons find habitation (1 Corinthians 6:19). This is why you will often see them engage in different kinds of divination methods โ€” namely Kundalini awakening, astral projection, telekinesis, remote viewing (or RV), and numerous other โ€œmanciesโ€ known to humanity.

For example, one particularly prevalent form within the Body of Christ is โ€˜onomancyโ€™ or โ€˜nomancyโ€™. This is where divination is conducted using the letters of a personโ€™s name โ€” deriving from the Greek words โ€˜onomaโ€™ meaning name, and โ€˜manteรญaโ€™ for prophecy.

โ€œ Do not turn to mediums [who pretend to consult the dead] or to spiritists [who have spirits of divination]; do not seek them out to be defiled by them. I am the Lord your God.โ€ โ€” Leviticus 19:31 AMP

In conclusion, God unequivocally forbids us from engaging in any form of fellowship with divination. This prohibition extends to direct participation in divination practices or even receiving messages by spirits of divination. Those who give ear to the words of someone claiming to prophesy through a spirit of divination expose themselves to demonic influence, thereby jeopardizing their lives and destinies.

โ€œThen it goes and takes with it seven other spirits more wicked than itself, and they go in and live there. And the final condition of that person is worse than the firstโ€ฆโ€ โ€” Matthew 12:45

It is crucial to understand that once a demon spirit gains a foothold, it typically paves the way for other malevolent spirits to infiltrate. The Bible provides clear guidance: never entertain the spirits of divination and outlines effective strategies for dealing with it in Leviticus chapter 19.

Do not entertain Witches and Wizards!
