Leviathan Is King Over All The Children Of Pride — In Him All Narcissists Have Their Being

“Leviathan the gliding serpent, Leviathan the coiling serpent”

As described in the Old Testament portion of the Bible, Leviathan is a mighty serpent or spiritual monster that squeezes the spirit of Christ; good virtues, or empathy out of people in much the same way a python squeezes the life out of its prey.

When we search through the scriptures, Leviathan is mentioned about four times in the Bible. One of the first mentions of it is in Job 41 — but it is discussed again in three other places: Isaiah 27:1, Psalm 74:14, and Psalm 104:26. In Isaiah 27:1, Leviathan is described as a serpent.

Job 41 described this beast and claimed, “He beholds every high thing; He is king over all the children of pride”(Job 41:34). It is in the book of Job, readers learn that not only is Leviathan a scary being that cannot be killed by man, but it also possesses a lot of traits comparable to a combination of what we know today as a crocodile, and mythical dragons.

How Leviathan operates in Narcissism

Leviathan wraps around a person’s spine and twists causing them back and neck pain, and headaches. If they try to read a Bible or any Christian books they will fall asleep — he tries to stop the person from growing spiritually. Besides physical manifestations, the Leviathan — a prideful spirit — entices narcissists to be arrogant, haughty, and to rebel against authority.

Interesting fact, Narcissism is the modern colloquial term for what the Bible calls insolent pride.

“Proud,” “Haughty,” “Scoffer,” are his names, Who acts with overbearing and insolent pride. “— Proverbs 21:24 AMP

In this verse, haughtiness means having or showing arrogance. Other synonyms of being haughty include pride conceit, contemptuous, disdainful, imperious, overweening, scornful, and snobbish — to name a few.

“Pride goes before destruction, a haughty spirit before a fall”. — Proverbs 16:18

When Leviathan —a fire-breathing dragon(Job 41:21) — is at work, narcissists will destroy everything around them. In fact, fire can be found when the apostle James refers to the tongue as a little member that boasts great things (James 3:6). James says, “how great a matter a little fire kindleth. The tongue sets on fire the course of nature”. Based on this verse, Leviathan first manifests inwardly in the life of the Narcissist as emotions like anger and bitterness — over time, he expresses those emotions through the tongue in boasting, lying, and cursing.

If you have ever experienced narcissistic abuse or rage, you painfully adapt to the fact that narcissists are pathological liars — they can’t stop spreading misinformation about themselves and others. You’d think Sooner or later they would learn that lying is “bad,” and they should stop doing it…But this isn’t the case for people with narcissistic traits.

“I think it comes from a defect in the neurological wiring in terms of what causes us to have compassion and empathy,” — psychiatrist Judith Orloff,

We discussed in a previous topic that narcissists' fear of rejection makes them handicapped to express genuine empathy. Because narcissists don’t care about other people, lies don’t seem to matter. A lack of empathy essentially means a lack of conscience, which is a hard concept to grasp for a lot of narcissistically abused victims and those around them.

In fact, when narcissists’ are lying some may not even realize they are lying half the time, because they’re not conscious of it. No offense — but they actually do believe they are telling the truth a lot of the time. It’s not so much about the fact itself, as much as it is about wanting to have power over somebody.

Narcissists — fully equipped with pathological lying skills — are masters at stirring strife and would go to any lengths to create an atmosphere of fear, and confusion — if it benefits them.

  1. Proverbs 28:25 King James Bible says, “He who is of a proud heart stirs up strife.
  2. Proverbs 28:25 The New English Bible translates this verse, A self-important man provokes quarrels.”

These toxic people are masters of drama — like Momus—they are easily given to boasting and insolent; they are liars, gossipers, and slanderers; untrustworthy; unloving, and unmerciful.

  1. Psalm 101:5 King James Bible says, Whoever secretly slanders his neighbor, him I will destroy; No one who has a haughty look and an arrogant heart will I endure.
  2. Leviticus 19:16 King James Bible says, “You shall not go about as a slanderer among your people, and you are not to act against the life of your neighbor; I am the Lord.

I hope this information helps you understand the spiritual influences that motivate the attitudes and behaviors of people with narcissistic traits.
